A free service, without an account
ElniDocs is free and used without signing up. The publisher may change, suspend or stop all or part of the service, in particular to maintain or improve it.
Your use
You use ElniDocs under your own responsibility and in compliance with the law. You are responsible for the files you process: make sure you have the right to open, edit and share them (copyright, personal data, professional secrecy).
You may not use ElniDocs to get around a protection you are not entitled to, for instance to open a PDF whose password you are not allowed to know.
Always check the result
ElniDocs is provided "as is". We do our best to make the tools reliable, but no software is perfect:
- opening and saving Word, Excel, PowerPoint or OpenDocument files may change some details of layout, fonts or formulas; macros are never run;
- text recognition (OCR) may contain errors;
- automatic redaction may miss some data: review the document before sharing it;
- checking an electronic signature is a technical check (document integrity, certificate) done offline; it does not replace a qualified validation within the meaning of the European eIDAS regulation;
- the results of comparisons, analyses and checks are for information only.
Always keep a copy of your original files, and check the result before using it for important purposes (legal, financial, medical…).
Your documents stored in the browser
Recent documents and drafts are kept only in your browser's storage. They may disappear if you clear your browsing data, use a private window, or if the browser frees up space. Save a copy of your important documents on your device.
Passwords and encryption
A file encrypted or password-protected with ElniDocs can only be opened with that password. It is stored nowhere: if it is lost, nobody can recover the file, neither you nor the publisher.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for indirect damage, loss of data or files, the consequences of an incorrect result, or the unavailability of the service.
These limits do not apply in the event of intentional misconduct or gross negligence by the publisher, to damage resulting from death or personal injury, or where the law forbids them. If you are a consumer, you keep all the rights the law gives you.
Intellectual property
The site and its content are protected (see the legal notice). The open-source software used remains under its own licence (see the Licences page). Your documents remain yours.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Belgian law. In the event of a dispute, and failing an amicable solution, the Belgian courts have jurisdiction, without prejudice to the mandatory rules protecting consumers in their country of residence.
Languages and changes
These terms exist in several languages; in case of discrepancy, the French version prevails. They may be changed: the version in force is the one published on this page.
