A complete presentation editor, in your browser

The ElniDocs editor for PowerPoint files opens your .pptx files and lets you edit your slides as in installed software: text, images, shapes, tables, charts, transitions and animations, speaker notes. You present full screen with presenter view, then save as .pptx, which opens in PowerPoint without repair, or as PDF.

Everything happens on your device. The presentation is sent to no server, neither to ElniDocs nor to anyone else: cut your connection once the page has loaded, and the editor keeps working.

What you can do

  • Create, duplicate and reorder slides.
  • Add text, images, shapes, tables and charts; group and ungroup objects.
  • Set up transitions and animations, kept in the .pptx file.
  • Find and replace across every slide, notes and footer included.
  • Present full screen with presenter view: notes, next slide, elapsed time.
  • Save as .pptx or PDF.

Who is it for?

For touching up a presentation just before a meeting, on a computer without PowerPoint. For confidential slides that must not go through the cloud. For presenting without a reliable connection. For a Chromebook, Linux or a locked-down PC.

Limits to know about

  • There is no real-time co-editing: everyone works on their own copy.
  • Only the .pptx format opens: old .ppt files and .odp files must be saved as .pptx first.
  • Very advanced PowerPoint effects may be simplified: check the result before presenting.

In short

This editor opens, edits and creates PowerPoint presentations (.pptx) without PowerPoint or an account: a talk, a team meeting, course material. Add slides, text, images, tables and charts, set up transitions and animations, then present full screen, with a presenter view that shows your notes and the next slide. The result is saved as .pptx, which then opens in PowerPoint, as PDF through the print window, or as PNG images of one slide or all of them. Only the .pptx format opens, up to 500 slides. When a file is opened, SmartArt, embedded objects, videos and sounds (their preview image is kept) and EMF or WMF images are not carried over; a message flags them. Everything works in your browser.

How it works

  1. Create a blank presentation or open a PowerPoint (.pptx) file.
  2. Add your slides, text, images, tables and charts, group objects (Ctrl+G), then set up transitions and animations.
  3. Present full screen, or save as .pptx or PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit a PowerPoint presentation without PowerPoint?

Yes: the editor opens and saves .pptx files without Microsoft PowerPoint, without a subscription and without an account. Creating, editing and running the slideshow all work in the browser.

Will the .pptx file then open in PowerPoint?

Yes: the saved file opens in PowerPoint without needing repair, with its slides, notes, transitions and animations.

Can I present with notes?

Yes: presenter view shows your notes, the next slide and the elapsed time, while the audience sees the slide full screen.

Can I find and replace text across the whole presentation?

Yes: Ctrl+F finds and Ctrl+H replaces, in shapes, tables, chart titles, notes and the footer of every slide. "All" replaces in a single undo step, and the text formatting is kept.

Can I open an old .ppt file or an .odp file?

Not yet: only the .pptx format opens. Save a .ppt or .odp file as .pptx first, with the software that created it.

Are my files sent to a server?

No. Everything is processed in your browser, on your device: no file is sent anywhere, neither to ElniDocs nor to anyone else. You can check this by going offline once the page has loaded: the tool keeps working.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free, with no sign-up, no adverts and no watermark added to your files. The only limit is your device's memory (up to 500 MB per file).
