Which encryption is used?
AES-256-GCM, with a key derived from the password using Argon2id. The file's original name is encrypted too, and any tampering is detected.
Does the recipient need any software?
No: they open ElniDocs in their browser and drop the file there with the password. Share the password through a different channel from the file.
What if the password is lost?
The file can no longer be decrypted, by anyone.
Are my files sent to a server?
No. Everything is processed in your browser, on your device: no file is sent anywhere, neither to ElniDocs nor to anyone else. You can check this by going offline once the page has loaded: the tool keeps working.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It is free, with no sign-up, no adverts and no watermark added to your files. The only limit is your device's memory (up to 500 MB per file).
