In short

This tool encrypts a PDF so that it only opens with a password: a payslip, a medical record, a contract to send by email. The encryption is AES-256, the highest level provided for by the PDF standard, and the password must be at least 8 characters long. You can also block printing, copying the text or making changes; common PDF readers respect these restrictions, but only the password needed to open the file truly protects the content. Several PDFs can be protected at once with the same password; they are delivered in a ZIP. A forgotten password cannot be recovered. The encryption happens in your browser.

No. Everything is processed in your browser, on your device: no file is sent anywhere, neither to ElniDocs nor to anyone else. You can check this by going offline once the page has loaded: the tool keeps working.

Is it free? Do I need an account?
