My documents

In short

This tool removes hidden information from a file before you share it: a photo's GPS location and camera, a document's author, company, last editor and dates. It accepts JPG, PNG and WebP photos, PDFs, and Word, Excel and PowerPoint (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx) or OpenDocument (.odt, .ods, .odp) files, several at a time. What each file gives away is shown first. Photos are not recompressed, and a JPG keeps its orientation and colour profile; images inserted in a document lose their EXIF data. The names of the authors of comments and tracked changes are part of the content: they are flagged, not erased. Several cleaned files are delivered in a ZIP. Analysis and cleaning happen on your device.

How it works

Drop photos, PDFs, or Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OpenDocument files.
See what they give away: author, company, camera, GPS location, dates.
Download the cleaned copies.

Frequently asked questions

Is photo quality affected?

No: the metadata is removed without recompressing the image. Orientation and colour profile are kept.

Is a photo's GPS location removed?

Yes, along with all EXIF, XMP and IPTC data.

Are the names of comment authors erased?

They are part of the document's content: they are flagged, but not removed automatically.

Are my files sent to a server?

No. Everything is processed in your browser, on your device: no file is sent anywhere, neither to ElniDocs nor to anyone else. You can check this by going offline once the page has loaded: the tool keeps working.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free, with no sign-up, no adverts and no watermark added to your files. The only limit is your device's memory (up to 500 MB per file).
